TWO DAY ONLINE HYLOGGING WORKSHOP June 2020

TWO DAY ONLINE HYLOGGING WORKSHOP

Date & Time

Thursday 25 and Friday 26 June 2020
9am to 12pm (AWST)

Presenters

Carsten Laukamp (CSIRO)
Monica LeGras (CSIRO)
Jessica Stromberg (CSIRO)
Paul Duuring (DMIRS
Lena Hancock (DMIRS)
Michael Wawryk (DMIRS)

This online webinar-style workshop will provide an introduction to accessing and utilizing the over 400 000 m of Hylogger-derived hyperspectral drillcore data from cross Western Australia, which is freely available through GeoVIEW WA and the AuScope Portal. The workshop will illustrate the wealth of objective mineralogical and lithological information provided by these datasets, using a case study from the Greenbushes pegmatite-hosted Li-Ta deposit and provide hands-on instruction on using The Spectral Geologist (TSG) software to interrogate the case study dataset (drillhole C3DD024)

Registration

Registration is free but an emailed expression of interest to Lena Hancock at lena.hancock@dmirs.wa.gov.au is required.

Workshop materials including presentations, the case study dataset files and a temporary TSG
licence, will be shared with the registrants one week before the workshop. Registrants will receive a webinar invitation for each day of the workshop.

Program

The first day will include an interactive discussion covering the presentation materials. We encourage you to actively participate in the discussion. Please consider submitting specific questions or topics you would like covered in more detail prior to the workshop.

Topics to be discussed include:

  • Introduction to the HyLogger and data access using GeoVIEW.WA
  • Basic spectral mineralogy theory
  • Greenbushes Li pegmatite – geology and mineralogy
  • HyLogger data for drillhole C3DD024 – basic and advanced processing in TSG

The second day will focus on hands-on TSG training and will work through the C3DD024 drillhole dataset to highlight the application of HyLogger data for exploration and improving orebody knowledge.

More Information

Please note that registrants are required to set up TSG on their own computers prior to the HyLogger workshop (using the instructional presentations provided with the workshop materials).
