Landfills – Landmines or Goldmines: an ALGA forum at the Old Woolstore Apartment Hotel in Hobart on Thursday 12 June from 3 – 5 pm (drinks and nibbles available from 4.30pm).

This forum was initially run in NSW last year and we are pleased that Dr Nicholas Brunton – Partner at Henry Davis York and Melissa Porter – Senior Manager and EPA Accredited Auditor, ENVIRON could join us for this event. Jaimie Clarke – Manager Waste Management, EPA Division will provide the local perspective on landfills. The topic will include discussion on will explore landfills and associated liabilities – how to make “bucks not blunders” when dealing with landfills. Specific topics will explore:

  • Managing compliance: local, State and Federal
  • Buying and selling: using contracts to protect the business
  • Landfill redevelopment and renewal
  • How property development in conjunction with remediation is technically feasible and environmentally justifiable
  • Leaving your legacy
  • The local government perspective on managing challenges and opportunities associated with landfills and legacy sites
