Tectonics & Structural Geology Conference

Registration is now open for the SGTSG (Specialist Group in Tectonics & Structural Geology of the Geological Society of Australia) conference that will be held in Caloundra (Queensland, Australia) from 22nd to 27th November 2015.

The conference will cover a range of topics, including:

1. orogens, oroclines, and continental deformation;
2. chronostratigraphy and terrane analysis;
3. pressure oscillations in orogens: lithostatic versus overpressure;
4. deformation mechanisms, microstructure, and rheology;
5. the coupling of fluid flow, deformation, and resources;
6. structure and reactivation of basin margin; and
7. supercontinent cycles and global geodynamics (jointly with IGCP 648).

Confirmed keynote speakers are Leigh Royden, Cees Passchier, Stephen Marshak, Stephen Cox, Klaus Regenauer-Lieb, Mike Sandiford, Neil Mancktelow and Bruce Hobbs.

The conference will include a pre-conference fieldtrip to New Caledonia (14-21 November) and a post-conference fieldtrip to the Gympie Block and D’Aguilar Ranges in southeast Queensland (November 28-29).

The deadline for early-bird registration, fieldtrip registration, and for sending tentative titles of proposed oral presentations is 30 June 2015. The final deadline for abstract submissions is 15 September 2015.
