Workshop 2, 3 and 4 (Part 1) – Thu 28 Apr
Part 2 of Workshop 2 – Tue 3 May
Geological staff signing off on public reports presenting Exploration Results and/or Exploration Targets are accepting significant personal responsibility for these reports. The JORC Code sets out explicit requirements for public reporting of exploration information and provides recommendations and guidelines to assist geologists with establishing sound processes to support the reporting of these activities, including The Checklist of Assessment and Reporting Criteria (JORC Code Table 1).
Workshop 2 is a stand-alone module designed as a refresher for geological staff who currently take Competent Person responsibility for public reporting of exploration data, those that may be able to do so now or in the near future, and non-technical mining industry professionals that work with exploration information. Part 1 of this workshop is a core module that is common to Workshops 2, 3 and 4. It provides an overview of the Code, describes the general elements of the Code, outlines the role and responsibility of the Competent Person, and summarises the complaints process. Part 2 is specific to exploration reporting and covers the key elements of the Code relevant to exploration, common compliance issues including Table 1, and a summary of relevant rules of the Australian Securities Exchange. Reporting case studies will be used to illustrate how the JORC Code is applied.
