The evening’s presentation is on the contributions to the geological understanding of Victoria and life of Edward John Dunn, prominent Australian geologist and mining surveyor. Dunn’s major works included surveying, mapping and naming Bendigo’s anticlinal folds as well as compiling several geological reports on the Bendigo Goldfield for the Geological Survey of Victoria during the 1890’s.
During this time Dunn was also briefly in charge of the Bendigo Underground Mine Survey Office which was ran by the Victorian Mines Department. He also worked as a mining consultant and contract geologist based in Melbourne. He later became Director of the Geological Survey of Victoria.
