Our guest speaker

Danae Voormeij, Mynah Exploration

Danae Voormeij, BSc (Hon), MSc and PGeo, is an exploration geologist with expertise in gold deposits.

Voormeij has 20 years international field experience managing exploration teams in remote locations and new geological frontiers. She has explored for orogenic gold, gold-rich VMS-style, and orogenic copper mineralized systems across the African continent and has held positions of chief geologist, exploration manager and VP Exploration.

In 2012, Voormeij led the AIM-listed Hummingbird Resources exploration team to the grassroots discovery of Tuzon, a 2.5 million-ounce gold deposit, in the jungles of Liberia, West Africa. Danae’s focus is on exploring for gold and copper in areas with (tropical) laterite regolith and she believes in open access of data, including open access to her course material called “Gold Exploration in Tropical Landscapes”, which is available for download on researchgate.net.

Ms Voormeij is a Canadian registered professional geoscientist with the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC) since 2007, a Fellow with the Society of Economic Geologists (SEG) since 2013, a member with the Canadian Institute of Mining (CIM) and the Geological Association of Canada (GAC) since 2001 and she is a Qualified Person (QP) under CIM’s NI 43-101 standards.
