Marcos Bueno

Dr. Marcos Bueno is the founder and CEO of Geopyörä, a startup focused on developing innovative and cost-effective rock breakage testing solutions for the mining industry. He began his career as a mining engineer at Yamana Gold after earning his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Sao Paulo in 2006. Marcos then pursued his PhD in multi-component autogenous and semi-autogenous grinding at the JKMRC, University of Queensland, where he was awarded the prestigious Ian Morley Prize. Following his studies, he spent most of his career as a senior engineer at Ausenco, where he conducted technical and engineering studies across key mining commodities. More recently, during his tenure as a senior researcher and lecturer at the University of Oulu, Marcos developed the Geopyörä breakage test with financial support from Business Finland. With his 17 years of work and research experience in mining and mineral processing engineering, Dr. Bueno has in-depth knowledge of the design and optimization of comminution circuits, as well as geometallurgy.
