In 1995 Canadian explorer Bre-X announced that it had one of the worlds largest gold deposits. Its share price went from 30 cents to $280, until 1997 when it was revealed to be fake and the price fell from the sky, as did the Bre-X Project Manager. Six years before Bre-X arrived, two geologists from Adelaide discovered this small gold prospect in the Indonesian jungle. This is their story of Busang, pre- and post Bre-X, a tale of intrigue, adventure, danger, slander, greed, of future Nobel Laureates, back-stabbing partners and of course, of geology.
