Exploration Experience and using Data Mining Soil/Stream Sediment Geochemistry for targeting based on West Charter Towers District (QLD)Presented by Geoff Beckitt (GB GeoSolutions Consulting / Rockland Resources Exploration Manager) The journey of a junior explorer will be shared: covering project generation, effective exploration methods, and the use of data mining to interpret stream and soil sediment geochemistry. It is argued that data mining should be used to remove cover and background geological effects from soil and stream geochemistry before combining in a probabilistic manner to effectively highlight subtle anomalies and complex mineral system patterns. Examples will be provided from the western part of the Charters Towers District, a globally recognised gold district in Queensland. SpeakerGeoff Beckitt Geoff Beckitt is currently a consultant with 28 years of experience ranging from geophysicist and geoscientist to exploration manager. Notably, during his tenure at Cameco Australia, he played a leading role in discovering the Angularli Uranium Deposit (Northern Territory). More recently, he has been assisting the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) with an exploration e-learning platform and management document.
