  
Review of the Geology of the Eastern Fold Belt, Mount Isa Province

Ian’s talk will present an overview of advancements in knowledge of the geology of the Eastern Fold belt in the Mount Isa Province, based on work completed over the last 20 years, chiefly by GSQ and GA, but also university researchers. Critical to this advancement has been zircon dating of detrital ages of the sedimentary successions that can be tied to magmatic events in the provenance. This has allowed a better understanding of stratigraphic relationships and correlations with the superbasin and supersequence framework recognised in the Western Fold Belt.
