Social Media Policy

AIG understands that social media networks (such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Tik Tok etc.) play an important part in today’s society and that the majority of our members may use social media in some personal capacity.

AIG embraces the use of social media as a tool for sharing information, engaging with members and the public, and for promotion, development and delivery of AIG’s events and activities, and is committed to ensuring that social media engagement connected with AIG is lawful, professional and respectful.

The widespread use of social media has made it more difficult to maintain a clear separation between professional and personal interactions. Inappropriate online behavior can negatively impact professional reputation, public trust, and the overall perception of individuals working in the geoscience industry.

This policy aims to set expectations and protocols to ensure that social media posts are consistent with the values of AIG and that posts made through its social media channels do not damage AIG’s reputation.
