Structural controls of fluid flow, mineralisation and alteration in the Barberton Gold Mines, South Africa.30th Geology of Gold – distinguished visitor lecture. The Barberton greenstone belt hosts several high-grade gold mines that have been continuously mined for ~150 years. These globally significant deposits, formed over 3.0 billion years ago, are hosted in ultramafic rocks, shale-greywacke sequences, banded iron formation and sandstone successions. This talk outlines the recent advances in understanding the Barberton gold deposits. To know more about the Geology of Gold Course, go to the event page.
