Dean Williams
Dean received his BS in geology from Oregon State University in 1979, and a MBA from the University of Oregon in 1988. Over a 35-year career in precious metal exploration, he has worked with start-up companies to major mining houses on four continents. His specialty is district-scale mapping with the integration of geochemistry, remote sensing, and geophysical data. These are combined in a GIS environment to produce 3-D geologic, structural, and ore control models. These provide improved geologic understanding of the project, and often define new exploration targets.
The majority of his experienced is in epithermal deposits, especially high-sulfidation systems hosted in complex volcanic-sedimentary terrains. Additionally has extensive experience with orogenic deposits hosted by Archean age greenstone belts. Iconic projects he mapped include Pascua-Lama-Veladero, Navidad, Cerro Bayo, Mina Martha, projects in the El Indio District, and Caspiche. These, combined with dozens of lesser projects constitute over a thousand square kilometers of outcrop mapping.
He has published several peer reviewed papers with the Society of Economic Geologists; including the foundation geologic paper on the world class Navidad Ag-Pb-Cu-Zn district, Chubut Province, Argentina.
