Geochronology on the grain to galactic scale: How isotopes tell the deep time history of our planet, its resources and (perhaps) even our place in the cosmos.Speaker: Chris Kirkland Our guest speakerChris Kirkland, Curtin University
Chris is leader of the Timescales of Mineral Systems Group at Curtin University applying geochronology to reduce exploration risk and address geological questions related to the timing and rate of geological processes. He completed his undergraduate degree in Geoscience at the University of St Andrews, Scotland and gained a PhD in isotope geology at University College Dublin. After completing a postdoctoral position at the Swedish Museum of Natural History, he moved to Western Australia in 2008 to take up a geochronologist position for the Geological Survey of Western Australia, later transitioning across to Curtin University in 2015.
