Our guest speakers

John Carlile

John Carlile is a geologist with over 40 years’ experience in the resource industry and has held senior positions in both major and junior resources companies including those of President of the Indonesian and Philippines subsidiaries of Newcrest, and he was the founding Chairman of Pearl Energy, the first oil and gas production company to be listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange.

John has extensive experience in Indonesia. He established and headed up Newcrest’s presence into the country and it was under his leadership that the Gosowong high-grade epithermal gold deposit was discovered. He has also co-authored several geological papers on mineralisation in the volcanic arcs of Indonesia.

Previously as a member of BHP-Utah’s World Metals Group, he was involved in evaluation of exploration opportunities in several countries including Greece, Turkey, Yugoslavia, Morocco, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, South Korea and Japan.

John is currently on the Boards of ASX listed Kingsrose Mining, exploring for PGMs in Scandinavia and Canadian TSXV listed Southern Arc Minerals and is a Technical Advisor to Japan Gold Corp exploring for epithermal gold deposits throughout Japan.

He has a BSc (Honours) in Geology from the University of Reading, England and a MSc in Mineral Exploration from the Royal School of Mines, Imperial College, London and is a Fellow of the AusIMM and the Geological Society of London.
