This half-day workshop will present the fundamental requirements of the JORC Code, including new and changed provisions adopted in 2012. Examples of compliant and non-compliant reports will be reviewed, including case studies. This workshop is designed for existing and intending Competent Persons and management staff at all levels.

Overview

This workshop will present the fundamental requirements of the JORC Code and Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) Listing Rules, including new and changed provisions adopted in 2012. Examples of compliant and non-compliant reports will be reviewed, including case studies.

The workshop will cover the following:

  • Overview of the JORC Code and explanation of key concepts and terms
  • Overview of ASX Listing Rules and relevance to minerals reporting
  • “If not, why not” reporting requirements against Table 1
  • Competent Person attribution requirements
  • Examples of compliant and non-compliant reports with respect to the 2012 Code

Group interaction and case studies are used to illustrate and reinforce workshop concepts.

This workshop is designed for existing and intending Competent Persons, as well as minerals industry management staff at all levels, particularly those involved with the preparation of public reports to the ASX.

Presenter biographies

Peter’s expertise is in audit and due diligence studies of mineral resources and ore reserves, providing advice to improve standards in mine geology and investment return. He has a wide commodity exposure across base and precious metals, and industrial minerals. He is the immediate past Chairman of the Joint Ore Reserves Committee.

Mark’s expertise is in mining geology, resource/reserve estimation and assessment, exploration and mining project due diligence, geological risk management and valuation. His experience includes operations, project and financial management, safety, and education and training across a broad commodity focus.
