Mapping Mineral Systems – New Perspectives & Challengers for Exploration Geophysics

geoconferences-wa-logo-final-croppedMapping Mineral Systems – New Perspectives & Challengers for Exploration Geophysics

Date & Time

team-wa-workshopsMonday 17th October 2016
8.50am – 1.00pm

Venue

Australian Resources Research Centre (ARRC)
26 Dick Perry Ave, Kensington WA 6151

The mineral systems approach attempts to view the spatial and temporal distribution of ore deposits by relating the processes that control the source, transport, and deposition of metals and other commodities to the evolving structure of Earth’s crust and mantle. The change from searching for specific types of mineralization to understanding aspects of hydrothermal or magmatic architecture at different scales presents new challenges and perspectives for acquiring, processing and interpreting geophysical data.

Registration from 8.30am

Speakers

  • lan Aitken (CET) – Two wise monkeys: combined seismic and gravimetric understandings of the deep crust can build mineral system knowledge
  • Stephan Thiel (Geological Survey of SA) – Geophysical signatures of mantle fertility and their role for minerals systgems: insights from AustAMP MT
