With our usual fun virtual format for those that can’t attend in person – along with drinks, nibbles, live music & good ol’ face-to-face connection for our in-person attendees.
Walter Witt
Walter has worked in geoscience since 1973, in Industry, government and academic positions, primarily as an exploration geologist or in research positions directed to the application of geoscientific methods to the discovery of minerals. He currently works as The Walter Witt Experience, consulting and contracting to a range of Industry, government and academic clients.
Walter’s early career was focussed on nickel and gold exploration in the Yilgarn Craton, and geological mapping and gold mineralisation studies in the Yilgarn for the Geological Survey of Western Australia (GSWA). In 1998, he was awarded the Geological Society of Australia’s Gibb-Maitland Medal for substantial contributions to geoscience in Western Australia, with particular consideration given to contributions that relate to the occurrence or discovery of mineral resources. Since 2005, he has worked as a geological consultant in Australia, Asia, Finland and Africa and South America. More recently, Walter has consulted for REE explorers, at carbonatite localities in Tanzania and Angola. He has recently completed a part time post-doc at the CET studying the Karari and Whirling Dervish gold deposits.
