Coopers Alehouse at the Earl, 316 Pulteney Street Adelaide
John Anderson, Austrike Resources, Minerals Discovery Consultant
John will detail his re-interpretation of some of the rocks and sediments in and around South
Australia’s hematite Iron Oxide Copper Gold style deposits.
Hypothesis:
Another opportunity was spotted to turn South Australia’s geology on its head and re-invigorate mineral targeting. After identifying weaknesses in the dogma for the well-preserved Emmie Bluff hematitic IOCG system in the 2020 Gawler Challenge, the public data were followed up in more detail during 2022 with surprising results.
Previous attempts to explain inconsistencies with stratigraphic assumptions, such as Pandurra-like inclusions deep in Olympic Dam and basement overlying unmetamorphosed sediments at Emmie Bluff, required complex long-haul faulting and decollements contrary to the otherwise preserved deposits. And did you ever wonder how the sedimentary basin that collapsed into most of the HIOCG pipes disappeared from SA’s geological record?
Old experience, new concepts and Occam’s Razor are applied to core photos, historic logs,
spectral/geochemical data from SARIG, integrated with left-field sedimentological studies of the
Pandurra Formation.
