The Juomasuo, Hangaslampi and Haarakumpu Co-Au(-U-REE) deposits, in Finland, are advanced to preliminary resources in the Paleoproterozoic metasedimentary rockdominated Kuusamo Schist Belt, which was deformed during the 1.8 Ga Fennoscandian Orogeny. Juomasuo and Hangaslampi are located in a mid- to upper greenschist facies setting, whereas Haarakumpu is hosted in amphibolite grade gneisses. The Juomasuo, and Hangaslampi deposits are controlled by F2 folds but the diverse mineralization is the product of several successive hydrothermal and associated metals during successive deformation events. Cobalt from auriferous ductile shear zones was mobilised into adjacent wallrocks, where it combined with As from the ore fluid and formed cobaltite in pre-existing cobalt and sulfi de-enriched chlorite alteration zones.
