Coal mining in much of eastern Australia is impacted by volcanic rocks. Our study has included both regional-scale studies of volcanic thickness and composition in the Bowen Basin region, as well as focused case studies from individual mines. Results from the project could therefore by widely applicable to the Australian coal industry.
