Guest speaker Teresa Sadkowsky will speak by zoom about establishing the Oki Islands UNESCO Global Geopark, Japan

A program of UNESCO, Geoparks are community-based areas which foster sustainable regional economic development through geotourism. They can occur at a number of levels including Aspiring, National and Global. There are 169 UNESCO Global Geoparks in 44 countries with hundreds of Aspiring and / or National Geoparks around the globe.

While providing an overview of engagement taking place in Western Australia, Geoparks WA is assisting the Cities of Joondalup & Wanneroo to investigate establishing a geopark in the area to capitalise on the opportunities which sustainable regional development could deliver for its communities through the UNESCO Global Geoparks Program.
